When you're planning your trip to Vancouver then it's important to take into account considerations such as (1) traveling alone, (2) traveling as a couple, or (3) traveling with family. This influences the attractions which you'd enjoy seeing, which restaurants would be best suited for your needs and which methods of transportation to take and the accomodations you choose.

Attractions

Vancouver offers an array of attractions to appeal to people of all ages. These activities will vary depending on the season. Vancouver winter attractions range from indoor activities such as visiting the Planetarium, Science World, IMAX theatre, Vancouver Aquarium, or Musical to outdoor activities such as skiing at Grouse Mountain. If you're traveling with a family then we recommend a visit to Grouse Mountain. Grouse Mountain is fantastic for it's fun skyride and views of the city. Restaurants

If you're traveling alone or on business then you may prefer to dine at fast food outlets, shopping centre food courts or pubs and bars. You'll find many food courts conveniently located inside major shopping centres across Vancouver. There are lots of casual dining establishments such as Denny's, Knight & Day, Denny's, IHOP and local restaurants.

If you're traveling as a couple then Vancouver offers a delightful array of cozy dining establishments catering to almost any needs. Vancouver is on the Pacific Coast and West Coast cuisine with a flair for seafood is excellent in the city. For downtown dining we recommend Joe Fortest for seafood. For a nice lunch we recommend dining at the Old Spaghetti Factory in Gastown. For fine dining in dowtown Vancouver we suggest Feenies.

Transportation

Vancouver is a large city, but with a very good public transportation system. Buses, skytrain and seabus provide tourists with convenient and low-cost methods of transportation. If you're traveling with a family then it may be cheaper for you to rent a vehicle rather than relying on public transportation. Please be aware that parking rates for downtown range from $11 to $18 per day. Hourly meter parking in downtown costs about $5 per hour. Hotels & Accomodation

The first step in deciding which hotel to choose is to look at a vancouver map and decide which area you'd like to stay in. You can choose from staying in downtown vancouver, burnaby, richmond, surrey, north vancouver, langley, white rock, maple ridge or west vancouver. Most of the activities and sightseeing opportunities are in downtown Vancouver. Downtown Vancouver also offers excellent public transportation to visit adjoining areas. However, some attractions such as the Greater Vancouver Zoo are very far from downtown. Generally, hotels in downtown Vancouver will be more expensive than those in any other part of town. It's typical for hotel costs to increase as you travel closer to downtown. For instance, if you choose to stay in a suburb such as Surrey then rates should be cheaper than staying in a downtown Vancouver hotel. You are paying more for the convenience of staying in downtown Vancouver. Many attractions and sightseeing opportunities are within walking distance should you choose to stay in downtown Vancouver.
