The Vancouver Aquarium hosts the largest collection of fish in Canada. This aquarium is located in Stanley Park, Vancouver BC. This location contains about 3,000 different species. This aquarium is a non-profit organization dedicated to the conservation of aquatic life.

The highlights of the Vancouver Aquarium include beluga whale show, dolphin show, sea lion talk, sea otter feeding, birds of prey talk and various creatures of the coast shows. The creatures of the coast shows include sharks. There's a 'critter's corner' display where you can touch some of the creatures. For an additional fee you can book an aqaurium adventure such as personally meeting the beluga whales, beome an honourary marine mammal trainer, overnight sleepovers, birthday parties, kid's camps and kid's clubs. These services provide for a fun as well as educational experience. It's fantastic for kids of all ages!

New attractions are constantly being added to the aquarium. The latest addition to the facility is the ribboned seadragon. This creature is related to seahorses and pipefishes. It's native to northwestern Australia and New Guinea. Be sure to see this new exhibit when you visit.

The Vancouver Aquarium also includes a cafe for getting a snack or lunch as well as an ice cream stand. For fine dining there are a few restaurants located inside Stanley Park where you may choose to dine.

The Vancouver Aquarium website offers a taste of what you'll see inside. The website features a live beluga whale cam and otter cam. It's fascinating to see real time video of these graceful sea creatures in a man-made environment. The sea otters appear particularly playful. The only drawback is that when it's nighttime you'll only see a black picture. These are live creatures and they may not always swim past the video camera, so you may just see water. The whales are easier to spot in the live webcam than the otters.

Directions To The Aquarium

Walking From Downtown:
Walk along Georgia Street and follow the arrows which lead to Stanley Park. Depending on where you start your walk from downtown Vancouver it can take from 15 minutes to 30 minutes to reach the aquarium. Please refer to our downtown map to see where Georgia Street is situated.

Driving from Downtown Vancouver:
If you are driving from Burnaby, Coquitlam, Surrey, Langley, Abbotsford, Mission, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody or East Vancouver then head towards downtown and take the Dunsmuir viaduct.
Once you cross the viaduct stay in the left lane and turn left onto Cambie Street.
Then turn right onto Georgia Street.
Keep going along Georgia Street, staying in the right lane.
Soon you will come to a fork in the road where the right lane will lead you to Stanley Park while the left lane will lead you over the bridge to the north shore.
Keep to the right lane and follow the arrows that point to Stanley Park. Inside Stanley Park you'll find ample parking as well as signs pointing to the aquarium.

Driving From North or West Vancouver:
Take the Lions Gate Bridge heading towards downtown Vancouver.
Exit on the first right and enter Stanley Park.
Follow the signs for "other park attractions".
