Postal services are generally available six days a week from 8am to 5.30pm. The main office is at 757 West Hastings. You can also find postal outlets in convenient stores, drugstores, or shopping malls.

Local stamps will cost you about 48 cents. (Amount will rise by 1 cent for each year) If you want to send a souvenir (international rates) back to your country, check with staff at the postal outlets for weight measurements and pricing. The cost of shipping and postage will depend on the weight of your parcel and whether you wish to ship via air or sea.

Post box rentals are also available in most postal outlets except in some convenient stores. Rates will depend on the size of your box and how long you wish to rent it.

Post boxes are usually located along the side street and comes in two colors - blue and red. Pick up for mails usually vary from locations to locations but are usually from 11.30am to 4pm daily except Sunday.

The second largest telecommunications company in Vancouver is TELUS. Others include Sprint Canada and AT&T Canada.

To call long distance simply dial 011 followed by the area code then the phone number. For example, to call Australia, you would dial 011-612-123456. If you are unsure about what to do, simply dial 0 for an operator who will help you connect to the number you want.

You may also buy telephone cards that are pre-paid at local convenient stores or at various ticket machines which are usually located at the airport. Bear in mind that the machines to not give you any change so you will need the correct amount.
