Vancouver Weather Warning

December 3, 2007
The early December snowfall caused some frustration for Lower Mainlanders on Sunday, however, the heavy down pour of rain quickly washed away the snow in time for Monday's commute. The heavy rainfall is both a blessing and a curse. Environment Canada has issued alerts for Vancouver. Forecasts anticipate between 100 to 150 millimitres of rain in a day and a half. This huge rainfall will be accompanied by winds up to 80-kilometres an hour.

The weather conditions are making for very slippery roads and many drivers are experiencing hydro-planing of their vehicles. Motorists are urged to use caution during their commute.

Environment Canada warns of possible flooding as rivers swell from the heavy rainfall. Residents are asked to clear their local sewer grates to help ensure that flooding doesn't lead to any disasters such as flooding basements.

Tire stores selling winter tires have become especially busy this past week as motorists prepare for a cold winter.
