IBM will release Lotus Notes email software to be used on Apple's devices. This software requires use of IBM's Domino email server program and will be free to users who currently have Lotus Web-license and will cost $39 per year for new users.
IBM has plans to release Lotus Notes and Lotus productivity software for use on Apple's Macintosh computers. Lotus productivity software is free software which includes a word processor and spreadsheet.
Apple's Iphone currently has the ability to access web-based email through the Microsoft Exchange email platform. However, currently businesses usually don't turn on this option. IBM already has a user base of 135 million Lotus users who can now access their email on Apple's Iphone. This will allow Apple's Iphone to become more comptitive to Research in Motion's Blackberry devices.
