BC Ferry Terminal Experiences Bomb Threat

The Tsawwassen ferry terminal experienced a bomb threat last night. Passengers aboard a ferry from Nanaimo to Tsawwassen were not allowed to disembark and the ferry was turned away in response to a bomb scare.

Constable Charlene Brooks says that a man was overheard saying that he was going to bomb the BC ferry the Spirit of Vancouver. The suspect was taken into custoday when the ferry arrived. Police secured the area and brought in a canine bomb unit to search for explosives. The man was taken into custody along with his luggage.

Sidney RCMP were contacted to search the vessel and interview witnesses. So far the RCMP have not released the suspects name nor have they identified the contents of his luggage.
