For a midsummer night's extravaganza, why not head down to the English Bay for the Celebration of Lights which is usually held each year in the month of July. Countries of the past have included the UK, Mexico, Spain, USA, Italy and Australia. During the celebration three countries are chosen to come together in order to compete in a night of spectacular firework display drawing a huge number of crowd to the beaches. The fireworks usually last for a period of three weeks, with the finale event a crowd pleaser. If you intend to come to the fireworks, it is a good idea to park somewhere along Bute Street or take the public transport. Most streets will be close off to vehicles, making it difficult for any cars to get through. Come early and reserve a good spot before the fireworks start. You can also pack a warm blanket, floor mat, a good book and a picnic basket. For more Vancouver attractions please refer to our attractions guide.
