General Information

The UBC Botanical Garden is a working garden that is used for research, preservation and development. Founded by the University of British Columbia the garden is about 115 acres of land filled with plants from around the world.

The garden is divided into several interesting sections. For example, the David C. Lam Asian Garden has a variety of native flora and fauna from Japan, Taiwan, China the Himalayans. In comparison, the Alpine Garden possessed edelweiss, trillium and primula plants. Head down to the Food Garden for a variety of plant food that we humans use in our everyday diet. The Physick Garden offers you a chance to glimpse at plants that were favored by 16th century monks in their monastery garden. There is also a garden on local plants at the BC Native Garden.

Be sure to stop by the Shop-In-The-Garden Shop which offers a selection of gardening gifts and an assortment of plants.

Tours of the garden are usually available during the months of April through to October.
